Pest Control Services

Insects are the most successful group of animals on earth.  They have existed for over 350 million years, taken on many diverse forms and successfully adapted to a variety of environmental niches.  There are an estimated 500,000 to 1.5 million insect species.

Forthcoming is Outdoor Visions list of insects and the fungi that we treat, as well as other issues that your tree may have.  Outdoor Visions is capable of treating these problems.

Heavy scale infestations may weaken and kill plants.
Scale covers and waxy cuticles protect the delicate, soft-bodied insects from insecticides, so effective control can be a challenge.
Dormant oil treatments provide control of scale.
We treat trees with dormant oil in late winter.

Spider mite are very small and usually go undetected until plant becomes sick.
Mites feed on the lower leaf surface.
We treat trees with dormant oil in late winter.

A disease with symptoms that include leaf spot, blotches or distortion, defoliation and dieback.
Years of defoliation decreases the tree’s vigor, weakens the tree and invites pest to harm tree.
Mainly affects ash, elm, maple, oak & sycamore.

Emerald Ash Borer larvae feed on the inner bark of (only ash trees) interfering with the transport of water and nutrients.
We treat ash trees for Emerald Ash Borer in May.

Dothistroma is a devastating foliar disease of pine trees.
The fungus infects and kills needles.
Many years of the infected needle will ultimately lead to death of the tree.
We treat for dothistroma in May and June.

Chlorosis of foliage develops in trees that are grown in alkaline soils.
If chlorosis continues for several years, shoot growth is reduced, branches begin to die back and tree eventually dies.
We treat oaks and maple for iron chlorosis in June.

Although commonly found on evergreens, bagworms feed on a variety of trees and shrubs.
Bagworms overwinter as eggs.  Eggs hatch and the larvae leave the bags and then begin feeding and constructing their bags.
We spray bagworms in June, July and August.

Outdoor Visions carries a commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification to spray and treat trees.  We specialize in treating the following pests and diseases.  Although, we are capable of treating other pests and disease related to trees, too.

  2. We spray dormant oil on spruce to kill spider mites.
  3. We treat ash tree for the Emerald Ash Borer.
  4. We spray fungicide on pine tree for the fungus called dothistroma and on spruces for the fungus called rhizosphaera
  5. We spray fungicide on sycamore, oak and maple for the fungus called anthracnose
  6. We treat oak and maple for iron chlorosis.
  7. We spray bagworms in the summer.
